Earlier this month, Apple announced the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, two mid-range iPhones that will be sold alongside the more expensive iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. If you do not need a professional-grade camera, the iPhone 13 is good enough to serve as a daily driver without bells and whistles.
Dual camera feature is available on the iPhone 13, as well as the iPhone 13 mini. Individuals can also pre-order the iPhone 13 (6.1 inches) and the 13 Pro.
Like the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini, the new phones have angular edges. Five colors are available: blue, starlight, product red, midnight and pink. The pink color looks white in some lighting. Aside from the colors, there are two notable changes. First, the two rear cameras are now diagonally located on the bump.
Also, the phones have a Ceramic Shield cover over the display and an IP68 rating, meaning they can even be submerged up to 6 meters for 30 minutes.
Cinematic mode is one of the most talked about new camera features. Similar to Portrait mode for videos, Cinematic mode can focus from one subject to another, while Portrait mode only creates an artistic blur for the background. The background or foreground is then out of focus. The best part is that you can edit a video post-production so you can change who is in focus, when to shift focus from one person to another, and how to adjust the aperture.
The new diagonal dual-lens rear camera comes with 12-megapixel wide-angle and an ultra-wide-angle camera. While the wide camera comes with an improved f/1.6 aperture that lets in 47 percent more light and has sensor shift stabilization, the ultra-wide camera is equipped with an improved f/2.4 aperture to improve low-light performance.
The A15 Bionic is the chip that powers the iPhone 13's camera and all other features.
A15 is the new chip from Apple that will be used in the iPhone 13 models. It offers efficiency and performance improvements over the previous A14 chip used in the iPhone 12. This version of the A15 chip in the iPhone 13 has two performance cores and four efficiency cores, and is only surpassed by the version in the iPhone 13 Pro models.
The A15 chip in the iPhone 13 and 13 mini sports a 4-core GPU, one less than the A15 processors in the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max. Because of this, the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max offer the fastest GPU performance, although both iPhone 13 models are not far behind.
Compared to the iPhone 12 models, the iPhone 13 models offer about 10 percent better single-core performance and about 18 percent better multi-core performance.
Apple has improved battery life across the iPhone 13 range with the A15 chip and larger batteries. The result is up to 1.5 hours longer battery life when comparing the iPhone 13 mini to the iPhone 12, while the iPhone 13 has 2.5 hours longer battery life than the iPhone 12.
Apple's iPhone 13 comes with a 3,227 mAh battery than the iPhone 12's 2,815 mAh. This year model also support fast charging and can be charged up to 50 percent in 30 minutes via a Lightning to USB-C cable and a 20W power adapter.
